As salaam alaykum! My name is Jodie, I’m a cognitive behaviour psychotherapist and Muslim convert.

I am passionate about helping people, and I believe with my experience I’m equipped to help you. I have worked with people of all ages for over 13 years, and specifically in mental health therapy for over 7 years within the third sector (charities), local authorities and the NHS

House of Healing CBT came about following my own CBT treatment for postnatal PTSD (trauma). I absolutely benefitted from the therapy provided, but I missed the spiritual aspect. I wanted, and feel others deserve, a faith based evidence based therapeutic approach. My hope is that taking a truly holistic approach to therapy will include you as a whole, not just a presenting problem.

I use a variety of approaches to support people. I originally qualified as an accredited cognitive behaviour psychotherapist (BABCP accred.), then completed training in Islamic psychology. I am an associate fellow with the International Association for Islamic Psychology (IAIP) and receive regular supervision from an Islamic perspective. I have developed by training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy (PG Cert).

Therapist information

English

MA Social Work, PG Cert Compassion Focused Therapy, PG Dip Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

I became interested in compassion focused therapy after working with many people who struggled with self criticism and shame. I attended workshops such as Compassion Mind Training for Self Criticism, Compassion Training for Anxiety and Cultivate Your Compassionate Mind. Following the workshops, I completed a postgraduate certificate in compassion focused therapy. I have been taught by the likes of Paul Gilbert, Kate Lucre, Tobyn Bell, Russell Kolts and Chris Irons during the course and other workshops. I receive regular monthly supervision with a qualified/accredited CBT and CFT therapist, and I have worked as a therapist since 2013. I have experience working with children aged 7 onwards and adults of all ages. I specialise now working with adults who identify as Muslim and want a faith informed approach to therapy.
