Overview
I have worked for over 15 years as a counselling psychologist in the NHS. Recently this has been within an IAPT service (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) helping adult clients referred by their GPs (or who had self-referred) due to depression or anxiety.
I have also provided psychological therapy in a women’s prison, in an NHS eating disorders service and in an older adults community mental health team. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked in administration at the National Theatre, then volunteered as a mental health advocate at PACE, a LGBT charity, and on the telephone information line of Mind, the mental health charity.
My professional qualifications:
Following my psychology degree from UCL (University College London), I completed the three-year postgraduate counselling psychology programme at City University, London. During counselling psychology training we have our own personal therapy.

My hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, between 2.00pm and 8.00pm.

Training: I have been attending CFT workshops since 2007, totalling so far 26 days (130 hours). These have been led by Paul Gilbert (20 of the 26 days), also Mary Welford, Deborah Lee, Chris Irons, and Russell Kolts. Supervision: Chris Irons has been my individual CFT supervisor, for 8 monthly sessions during 2016-2017, and every 1-2 months since 2019. I have also attended Chris’ peer support group whenever possible (about 10 times so far). Experience: For the past 5 years I combined CFT with CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) in the NHS. I am now specialising in CFT in my private practice, although I would incorporate elements of CBT or other therapeutic approaches if appropriate to my client’s needs and wishes.
