I trained as a Clinical Psychologist in Oxford, qualifying in 1991. Since then, I have mainly worked in the NHS. Alongside my NHS work, I provide online therapy and supervision for people in the UK and beyond, through my online business: Far and Wide Therapy.
I have experience of most areas of adult mental health, but in particular:
• Eating disorders
• Trauma and childhood abuse
• Anxiety and stress
• Grief and loss
• Adjustment and transition
• Issues arising from cross-cultural/overseas humanitarian work
I was initially trained in CBT, but over time I’ve developed a more integrative style of working, drawing in particular from CFT, schema therapy and ACT.

I have been incorporating CFT in my work since the early 2000s, when I went to a BABCP workshop and heard Paul Gilbert speaking about his work. I can still remember watching the really moving short film he showed about a compassion-focused group he’d run. Since then, I have listened to, read and studied ongoing developments in this area e.g. books, videos, podcasts and workshops. I have then found creative ways to weave what I’ve learned into my own therapeutic work, while receiving regular supervision in both the NHS and private sector. I have run compassion-focused therapy groups, created some short YouTube resources, and enjoy integrating the principles of CFT with other complementary approaches, e.g. Schema Therapy. I continue to find this approach incredibly meaningful and effective, both in my clinical work and in my own personal development.
