Hello, my name is Helena, and thank you for showing interest in my profile.
My professional roots are in the UK where I qualified as a Chartered Forensic Psychologist (C.Psychol). After moving to The Netherlands I started facilitating therapy with individuals. I have always had a keen interest in psychology; why we behave in certain ways, what makes us different, what influences our thinking and emotions, and what can be done to help others.
My therapeutic experience lies originally in CBT, however CFT is now my main therapeutical modality. I also have completed training and practiced Positive Psychology. In terms of clients,
I work with a range of adults from different backgrounds and cultures. I have particular interest in working with expectant mothers and mothers as this is can be a time of personal transition with new challenges and rewards. I also have experience working with individuals that may be experiencing low mood, anxiety, stress, challenges with self-worth, sense of identity, work-related issues, and integrating into another country. Being an expat myself, I can relate to the challenges that individuals may face when living in a different country, therefore I am keen to help and support others who find themselves in this situation.
On a personal note, I enjoy music and going to concerts, appreciating nature and art, trying out new food, and gardening.
BSc (Hons) Psychology (University of Wolverhampton; 2:1) MSc in Forensic Psychology (University of Leicester; Merit) MSc in Clinical Psychology (University of Leiden; Distinction) Positive Psychology Practitioner Certificate (School of Positive Transformation) PG Cert in Compassion Focused Therapy (University of Derby)
Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (CPychol) Registered Forensic Psychologist with the Health Care Professionals Council Member of The Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen EuroPsy as a Forensic Psychologist
I become interested in CFT after attending the Introductory course. It is an approach that resonated with me on a professional and personal level therefore I pursued additional training. This has included working with trauma, shame-based memories, anger, and role-taking in CFT. I have recently completed the PG Cert in Compassion Focused Therapy at the University of Derby. I also engage in fortnightly supervision with a CFT Therapist to work with clinical issues that I experience. I intend to continue to develop my knowledge and experience in this area through practice, training, reading. and supervision. I have over 10 years experience in working with individuals.
