Website

I am a Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Researcher, Assistant Professor of Psychology in Istanbul Medipol University, and Co-Founder of Resilience Akademi, based in Istanbul, Türkiye. Alongside my academic work, I conduct research on compassion, resilience, psychological flexibility, and contextual behavioural therapies. I also provide psychotherapy, supervision, workshops, and professional trainings. My clinical practice is informed by Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP).

My approach is based on the understanding that compassion is more than simply being kind to ourselves. It also involves developing the courage, wisdom, and emotional strength needed to respond effectively to suffering. I work collaboratively with clients to reduce shame and self-criticism, build emotional resilience, and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves and others.

I provide individual therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, perfectionism, trauma-related difficulties, chronic health conditions, burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and challenges with emotion regulation. I also have a particular interest in supporting therapists, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and individuals living with or adjusting to chronic illness, including cancer.

Alongside my clinical work, I facilitate compassion-based workshops, professional trainings, and supervision for mental health professionals. My therapeutic approach combines evidence-based interventions with a warm, authentic, and collaborative relationship, creating a safe space where clients can explore difficult experiences, strengthen psychological flexibility, build resilience, and cultivate self-compassion.

I offer both face-to-face and online therapy in English, French, and Turkish. Having lived and worked in the United States for ten years and spent a period living in France, I have expatriate experience working across cultures and with people from diverse international backgrounds. I welcome both local and international clients and aim to provide culturally sensitive, compassionate, and evidence-based psychological care.

I have been involved in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) since 2017 through both clinical practice and research. My interest in compassion-based approaches began with training in the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program in the United States, which led me to pursue further clinical training and research in this area. In 2020, I completed my first online CFT training with Professor Paul Gilbert, deepening my understanding of the compassion-focused model. More recently, I completed the Compassion Focused Therapy Diploma Programme offered by the Compassionate Mind Foundation (British Psychological Society CPD Quality Mark approved for 600 CPD hours). The programme provided comprehensive training in the theoretical foundations and clinical application of CFT. Throughout the programme, I participated in weekly group supervision, applying CFT principles to my clinical work under the guidance of experienced CFT supervisors. Over the years, I have continued to deepen my expertise in Compassion Focused Therapy through ongoing clinical practice, supervision, teaching, and research. I also integrate compassion-focused principles into both my clinical work, research and everyday life. ❤️
