I’m a clinical psychologist, academic, trainer and author specialising in CFT.  I first started working with Paul Gilbert in 1999, and have been involved in some of the research and development of CFT ideas for almost 20 years.

I am one of the directors of Balanced Minds, an organisation based in London and Edinburgh that specifically focuses on providing CFT for individuals, couples, families, the general public and organisations. We are keen to promote the CFT model as far and wide as possible, and supporting other therapists in their CFT practice.

I am the co-author of the ‘Compassionate Mind Workbook’ and ‘Experiencing Compassion Focused Therapy from the Inside Out’, along with the soon to be published ‘Compassionate Mind approach to Emotional Difficulties’

I was one of the founding members of the Compassionate Mind Foundation, and provide CFT training and supervision in the UK and internationally.

I have been fortunate to work with Professor Paul Gilbert for almost 20 years, and have benefited from many years of training, supervision and clinical experience with the founder of CFT. I have attended and helped to support, run and then lead CFT trainings for many years, and now lead the three day introductory CFT training for the Compassionate Mind Foundation. I have been lucky to be supervised by Paul Gilbert throughout this time, but have also benefited from CFT peer supervision groups with other experienced CFT therapists throughout the past 15 years. I have experience with CFT across many contexts. I regularly teaching and provide CFT for the general public, and have provided CFT trainings for the Guardian newspaper 'masterclass' series, as well as the School of Life. Using the CFT model, I have worked in primary care, outpatient psychotherapy services, community mental health and inpatient services. I have experience of using CFT across a broad variety of mental health difficulties, but also adapting this approach to work in organisations/business.
