Hi, I’m Hassi.  I’m a warm, compassionate therapist offering Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) for adults who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, shame and harsh self-criticism. Many people I work with look “fine” on the outside, yet inside feel overwhelmed, not good enough, or constantly on guard. In therapy we slow things down, make sense of what your mind and body have learned to do to keep you safe, and build the inner steadiness needed for real change.

CFT is an evidence-based approach that helps you understand your threat, drive and soothing systems, and gently strengthen your capacity for self-compassion, emotional regulation and self-soothing. I integrate compassion-focused imagery, mindfulness, grounding skills and practical strategies you can use between sessions. My style is collaborative, trauma-informed and paced with care—especially if you’ve experienced trauma, have physical health issues, panic, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or a history of feeling criticised, rejected or unsafe.

People come to me when they want support with anxiety and worry, depression and low mood, chronic stress, perfectionism, people-pleasing, compassion fatigue, grief, and the after-effects of difficult experiences. You don’t need to have the “right words” to begin; we can start with what feels most pressing right now and work towards clear, compassionate goals. I welcome the parts of you that feel frightened, angry, numb or ashamed, and we’ll explore how to relate to those parts with courage, warmth and wisdom.

I am a HCPC registered Allied Health Professional with a background in the NHS.  I am the founder of a not for profit organisation called Life Balance Therapy CIC and I offer sessions for individuals (and, where appropriate, groups) online and in-person in Devon and Cornwall. If you’re looking for a Compassion Focused Therapist who can help you move from self-judgement to self-acceptance, and from surviving to living with greater balance and connection, you’re very welcome to get in touch. I am approachable and easy to talk to, and I can chat on WhatsApp (07874475454), email, or by a virtual platform, and I offer free no-obligation consultations to see if I am what you are looking for.   Together we’ll build a compassionate inner voice that supports you through life’s challenges—at a pace that feels safe and respectful for you.

Groups, Organisations

I have a PhD in psychology since 2004 and I am a psychotherapeutic Occupational Therapist since 2016, so I am trained and experienced in both Physical and Mental Health assessment and treatment. I have been a CFT therapist since 2014 while in NHS Mental Heath Services. I am a lifelong learner and I am always doing CPD. I follow the work of the Compassionate Mind Foundation closely and I have subsequently attended several workshops (including Advance Practice Clinical Skills in Compassion Focused Therapy (November 2024) and Applying Compassion Focused Therapy to Physical Health Problems (December 2025) , and I been active in several of the Foundation’s special interest group meetings. I have regular clinical supervision and I also participate in Compassionate Focused Therapy peer supervision sessions.
