Overview

I could define myself as an eclectic psychiatrist. In my younger years, I had an academic track and worked in the field of Psychiatric Diagnosis, Evaluation, Genetics, Psychopharmacology, Drug development, design and implementation of Good Clinical Practices in Psychiatry. More recently, ten years ago, I met Paul Gilbert by chance in Paris and went to Derby and others places in the UK where I completely relearnt my way of practicing. I discovered CFT and Mindfulness and followed a double curriculum, in Derby for CFT and in London and Scotland for Mindfulness. Since 2010, I have been attending many workshops, seminars and retreats in these two fields. In 2013, with a colleague and friend of mine, Pr Pascal Delamillieure, we created  a charity : Compassionate Mind Foundation France affiliated with Compassionate Mind UK. Since then we have been organising the teaching of CFT and Mindfulness along the lines of what we have learnt in the UK. For CFT :Introductory, Clinical Skills and Advanced Practices. For Mindfulness : a four year curriculum with Mindfulness-first year, Compassion- second year, Insight-third year and Teaching skills-fourth year. I particularly enjoy inviting our English speaking teachers, such Paul Gilbert, Choden, Russel Kolts, Annick Nevejan, Olaf Van Kooten to France for workshops or Retreats  and I hope to invite many others in the future. To my French colleagues I try to transmit the Joy, Energy, Courage, Commitment and Wisdom I have been privileged to witness and experience during my teaching years in the UK.

Individuals, Groups, Organisations

Since 2010, I have attended many CFT and Mindfulness workshops and retreats in the UK. Since 2012, I have provided numerous CFT interventions in France, having translated with my friend and colleague Pr Pascal Delamillieure, all the material mostly given by Paul Gilbert ( slides, hand-outs, scales and the book Mindful Compassion ). These teachings have been mostly delivered in the framework of the charity we have created : Compassionate Mind Foundation France affiliated to Compassionate Mind UK and some privately. Practicalities : I receive my patients individually at my private practice in Caen (France) or in groups at the teaching hospital of the city (CHRU de Caen) where I work partime. The French equivalent of the NHS ( la Sécurité Sociale ) allows a nearly full reimbursement of the sessions at my downtown private practice while the participation in groups at the CHRU is free. My own CFT practice is supervised by Dr Dennis Tirch and by Mrs Annick Nevejan for Mindfulness ( well known Mindfulteacher and coach in Amsterdam, NL). Research : as a clinician I participate in different studies aiming to demonstrate the effectiveness of CFT in psychiatric outpatients and also in a European colloborative study ( the Silver Study ) designed to evaluate the effects of Mindfulness on ageing.
