I am a Lecturer and Clinical Psychologist, based in Brisbane at the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland. I am the Co-Director of the Compassionate Mind Research Group with Dr Stan Steidnl https://psychology.uq.edu.au/research/labs-groups/compassionate-mind
I have broad research interests in compassion, however, my specific research areas include: a) examining compassion focused therapy in RCTs; b) examining compassion with children; c) examining the links between parenting and compassion; and d) examining what fears, blocks, & resistances people have towards compassion.
I currently supervise 5 PhD Students. One PhD student is evaluating Compassion Focused Therapy for body weight shame in an RCT. I also supervise 3 Clinical Masters Students, where they are evaluating a brief 2-hour Compassionate Mind Training Intervention.
Although a full-time academic, I have a small private practice where I deliver CFT.
I also hold a Visiting Fellowship at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University and am an Honorary Member of the Compassionate Mind Foundation UK.
