Hello and welcome to my profile, my name is Hazel and my job is to help you understand what is making things hard for you and figure out how to make them better.

Often we have one or several problems that cause us distress which is difficult enough but then, because of the way we are wired, we heap on a lot of anxiety and self criticism which makes it all harder to bear. By understanding what is happening in our mind and body we can begin lighten the exhausting burden of shame, critics and anxiety so that we can become more resilient to distress and more connected to positive experiences and feelings.

Compassion Focused Therapy is a unique approach that not only helps us understand our emotions and behaviours but offers tools and practical guidance on how we can take control over our thoughts and experiences and develop better relationships with ourselves and others.

I have been practicing as a counsellor for over five years working in private practice, and the NHS as a palliative care counsellor. I work with a range of difficulties including trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, neuro-diversity, and relationship problems. I am also a clinical supervisor and I teach counselling. My work is client centred meaning that we work together to figure out what is most important and helpful to you.

We don’t choose our thoughts and feelings but we can change them.
